I heard this explanation about the Empire before, and it amuses me in a very cynical way. Soooo the bad guys are (explicitly) sexist and racist — and that is supposed to be a sign they are bad. But the good guys are ALSO (somewhat less explicitly) sexist and racist — and yet no one sees any problem with them or with that fact, except when once in a blue moon it is used it as a throwaway background for some token sexpot character. Lovely lovely double standard in action.

Although this issue redefines ‘dead horse’, I do appreciate someone stepping up on PHP’s behalf. I never understood his random distaste for it. Sure, it’s got it downsides, but all languages do, and the numbers speak for themselves.I’ll continue to read Jeff’s stuff (his content is pretty darn good), but you’ve definitely reminded me to take everything in with a grain of salt.

This is an amazing image. I feel a great deal of emotion here. Delight of simple discovery and peacefulness of spot. Having space around both ends of the staircase allows you to move within the image. I love this.

Jennifer Wilson does ‘criticise’ MTR as you so delicately put it. If criticism is all it was, then there’d be no problem (and no legal action). There is a fine line between free speech and hate speech. In regard to MTR, Ms Wilson crossed that line many times over.
I rarely laugh, out loud, at a blog post, but the thought of gnome-keepaway had me busting a gut. What a GREAT new achievement! (I’ll let someone with imagination come up with the title and details.)
