I think another thing that is key to this being a successful 650b conversion was along with the axle path, the steep 72.5deg ST angle doesn’t put the saddle too far behind the BB. This definitely makes more room for suspension travel.As an absolute..Riders win races, not bikes. Nino Schurter could have won on a 26″ or 29er.

a bottle etc, the lucky ones end up on CBS, OJ made it into the movies. The unlucky ones leave their blood on the pitch. On any given Sunday, they can get maimed for life. They know it’s a bloodsport, they’re comfortable with that. Me too.
